FISHERY RULES

Please make sure you are familiar with the site’s fishery rules. Thank you.

Carney pools reserve the right to amend the fishing rules at any time.

General Fishery Rules

  • All anglers to hold a current Environment Agency Rod Licence and must produce it to anyone requesting to see it 
  • Day tickets are available from the lodge please buy a day ticket, or settle your club booking before prosiding to the pool to fish
  • Barbless hooks only
  • Maximum hook size of 10 (on both pools)
  • N.B. Hook checks are made
  • All rods to be attended at all times whilst a baited hook is in the water.  DO NOT leave rods with baited hooks on the bank where ducks may eat the bait
  • No surface fishing
  • Keepnets in matches only
  • No Braid of any kind
  • All landing nets must be dipped upon arrival
  • The fishery insists that unhooking mats are used for all large carp and any photos
  • Never handle fish with towels or cloths of any kind
  • Please dip nets before use in dip tanks provided
  • Please read all the fishery rules on the notice board upon arriving
  • Please note all children under 16 years must have a responsible adult with them at all times with some angling knowledge.
  • No dogs around the pools – expect guide dogs
  • Respect other anglers no loud music, BBQ’s or alcohol on the bank
  • All fish 4oz or above must be netted
  • No fish to be out of the water for more than 2 minutes
  • No left over bait to be thrown into the pools, please use bins provided
  • Abuse to the fishery or site staff will no be tolerated and will result in a life time ban

  • Trout pellets
  • Nuts of any form
  • Bloodworm/Joker
  • Tinned cat/dog food
  • Floating baits

Match Rules

Keep Net Policy

  • All keep nets should be carp friendly ideally displaying the Water Lilly logo. Strictly no canal nets to be used.
  • 60lb limit per keep net, if exceeded weight over the 70lbs will be discounted
  • Minimum of 3 keep nets needed to fish any match
  • All keep nets should be dry when brought to the fishery and dipped before use
  • No rocks or stones to be placed in the keep nets

Weighing In Policy

  • No throwing of fish back into the water, lower the fish into the water from the weighing sling or net

Fishery Rules for Matches

  • Barbless hooks only to a maximum size of 10
  • No left over bait to be thrown into the pools, please use bins provided
  • No casting/pole fishing more than halfway across the pool into another angler’s swim
  • Any angler leaving their swim must withdraw his/her line from the water
  • No handling of fish with cloths or rags
  • No floating poles
  • No surface fishing
  • No elasticated feeders or fixed rigs
  • Litter to be taken away by anglers at all times
  • All landing nets to be dry when brought to the fishery and dipped before fishing
  • Half way rule applies on matches, if there is no angler on the next peg you may fish up to level with the pallet but no further.
  • Maximum of 2 tins of luncheon meat
  • No spectatorsBait Rules for Matches

  • Carp Pellets are available onsite in a range of sizes
  • No nuts of any form

  • Ground bait to be fed by pole cup or feeder, no balling in.
  • Day tickets are aviable from the lodge please buy a day ticket, or settle your club booking before prosiding to the pool to fish

Pegging of Matches

24 Pegs on Damsel Pool – 21 Pegs on Dragon Pool

  • In order to have exclusive use of Dragon pool a minimum of 18 pegs must be purchased for (£162.00)
  • In order to have exclusive use of Damsel pool a minimum of 21 pegs must be purchased for (£189.00)
  • If less than the stated pegs are being used day ticket anglers will be allowed on the pool and a empty peg will be left between a match angler and a pleasure angler.
