Match Record Broken on Damsel Pool!
Sunday 11th July 2010 saw the four year match record of 96lb 4oz broken
with a new match weight of 123lb 0oz. It was also a club best for
Red Horses Angling Club from Stafford who have been fishing Carney Pools
from when the pools first opened in 2001.
In 2006 Jason Brown who was then a member of Red Horses achieved the
winning weight off peg 23. It so happens that the present match record
came from the same peg.
Pools Open Day, April 2010
During April we traditionally hold an Open Day which is run by Staffordshire
Youth Anglers. The day is a mixture of great fun activities, free try it sessions,
fund-raising stalls and a small intra club match which is usually a close run
competition, the prize being the Eric Drinkwater Challenge Cup.
This year's event basked in glorious sunshine and was really well attended,
raising over £450 for club funds which will help them to continue to run their
angling and coaching sessions, workshops and events during 2010/11.
Kim's BBQ is always has plenty of customers, and was again sponsored by Chris
and Carol Carney. The match winner was Kerrie, with 12lb and the try - it pegs
resulted in 8 new members joining the club.
It was a great day and a great reward for all the hard work and energy that everyone
put into making it such a success. Carney Pools are very pleased to be able to
support the youth anglers in their activities.
